Excerpt from Authors Introduction: "God has a covenant people now, and the question to you is, who are they? And are they made in covenant now by any other covenant than they were in the days of Abraham? Has God now any people that are not of this covenant people? Be not deceived upon these important questions. An outward profession of Christianity does not constitute covenant relation to God! In making a profession of religion, I may say, “I promise and covenant to be for God for time and eternity.” Suppose I do, what has God to do with this covenant? In the use of this language, who covenants with me? Neither God or man. No, the Bible must decide this great question. What once told us who were the covenant people of God will tell us now."

God's Covenant with His People
“With a compelling simplicity, elegance and biblical authority, Rev. Doolittle's arguments effectively establish the fact of covenant succession. But Miles Doolittle's passion for the continuing validity of the Abrahamic Covenant is truly energized by his desire for the success and growth of the Church. Though administrative details of the covenant change, the substance and beneficiaries of the promise do not. When those intended beneficiaries embrace those promises through faith and faithfulness it leads to the full maturity and victory of the gospel in our families, churches and culture.”
“Miles Doolittle was a man who felt deeply that Christians should have a living sense of the immense privilege of being in covenant with God. He argued, as many have since, that the covenant with Abraham is the definitive expression of God’s covenant with his people and so an organizing principle of biblical religion. From that covenant he drew very clearly a picture of salvation as God’s sovereign gift. He also saw clearly the implications of that covenant for the place of Christian children in the church and for the importance of their nurture in the faith of the gospel. His is an older way of putting things, but after all the rather arid academic discussions of the biblical covenants in recent years, it is the more forceful for that. God’s Covenant with His People is a refreshingly devout treatment of a grand subject!”
"This little book clarifies some misunderstood gospel truths pertaining to our children and how important it is for us to understand them, and believe them. The predominant “baptistic” mindset (no matter what the denomination or sect) that is so prevalent in today’s modern American church must be confronted and challenged for the sake of our children and the honor of Christ. That was the purpose of this book when it was written over 150 years ago. Unfortunately, it is even more relevant today than when the author wrote it. It should be read by all who believe infant baptism is not a biblical doctrine. Hopefully, for some who read this book, major premises and paradigms will be turned upside down. That will be a good thing, and the author who wrote this gem will be well honored in His service to Christ. This little book is a powerful tool to help unpack the biblical doctrine of believers’ children. Pastors and parents alike will benefit from it."
"We hear the word covenant a lot these days in Reformed circles, and yet there remains a lack of clarity and conviction in our understanding of what it means to be God's Covenant people. Rev. Miles Doolittle, in his book God's Covenant with His People, relying primarily on God's Word, drives right to the heart of the issue. This book establishes the primacy of God's covenant in every aspect of our lives, from how we view God, to how we view our children and each other. Oh, to hear this kind of passion and precision from the pulpit today. A must read!"
"In a time when Christians have largely lost the concept of being 'a people,' it is essential that we recover an understanding of the doctrine of covenant succession. And to help in that recovery, I am very pleased to commend this reprinting of God's Covenant with His People. One of the signs that God keeps covenant is that He can speak to us across generations through books that were long out of print. May God soon do with our faith what He has done with this book – may He soon bring our faith in the covenant back into print as well."
“There is a wealth of treasure in many old books. I appreciate this publisher’s sensitivity to God's leading in re-offering this marvelous book back to the public. The main question Rev. Doolittle answers is ‘What about the children?’ This book is sure to deepen the conviction and understanding for paedobaptists and I hope it also will encourage our Reformed Baptist brethren to reconsider and reexamine the Biblical doctrine of infant baptism.”
“The Church, throughout its recent history, has
struggled with how to view the children of believers. Pastor Doolittle exhorts
Christian parents to trust in God’s covenantal blessings and believe: God is my
God and God to my children; God will bless the proper training of my children
even though I know that ultimately their salvation depends upon His grace; God
does desire godly offspring in my family. This is a valuable work! It encourages
parents to take seriously God's covenant promises to them and
their families.”
“May this excellent republishing of God’s Covenant With His People benefit Christ’s church in seeing that the gospel was, indeed, preached before hand to Abraham and his spiritual seed, and that all the types and shadows, and signs and seals, point to the surpassing beauty of the gospel of sovereign mercy and the glorious splendor of the Mediator of the new covenant, Jesus Christ himself.”

“God’s Covenant with His People is an excellent and very readable presentation of God's covenant. I am thankful for the republishing of this book. In reading it, I was particularly struck with the fact that the covenant has a dual nature: a heavenly and an earthly; a spiritual and a tangible; an inward and an outward nature. In this, the covenant parallels the "Minister of the covenant," the Lord Jesus Christ, in His dual natures. The covenant brings heaven and earth together as did the Son of God by becoming the Son of Man.”
